2009 Festa Coloniale Italiana

The San Francisco Italian Athletic Club is very pleased to announce the 2009 Festa Coloniale Italiana, a celebration of Italian culture, tradition and community friendship in the heart of San Francisco’s historic North Beach district on September 19, 2009 from 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

During this fun-filled, FREE event, outdoors along Stockton St. between Union and Filbert Sts., there will be continuous live entertainment including:

Aurora Mandolin Orchestra,
• Trio Amore,
Bella Ciao,
• Trio Davide,
The Don Giovannis,
The Ricco Dancers,
Due Zighi Baci, and
The Golden Gate Boys’ Chorus

Food booths will be selling sausages and peppers, fried calamari and meatball sandwiches, beer, wine soft drinks and coffee, and Italian-related products including Italian specialty foods and cookbooks, olive oil, wine vinegar, Italian ornamental wall hangings, Italian jewelry, handmade pendants, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, ravioli rollers, crafts and gifts, custom Italian-themed license plate frames, and handmade Italian Comedia Del'Arte masks will also be for sale.

Inside, we’re transforming the Club's main ballroom into an Italian piazza complete with a fountain and cypress trees. There will be handcrafted, Italian-themed gift items, informational literature from the Italian Cemetery, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, the Italian Consulate, and the 33rd Annual Italian Film Festival. There will also be handmade Italian ceramics, music boxes and Venetian masks on display and for sale, in addition to a historical California-Italian wine exhibit from the Museo Italo-Americano, with an accompanying wine tasting bar. We will also have FREE Italian cooking demonstrations and there will be an exhibit of the North Beach historical photographs of J.B. Monaco on the 3rd floor.
