Welcome to the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club

Welcome to the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club (SFIAC), San Francisco's premier Italian fraternal organization located in the heart of San Francisco's Little Italy, North Beach. The SFIAC traces its roots back to 1917 and since 1936, has been located at its present location at 1630 Stockton St.

The SFIAC is the heartbeat of the Italian community in San Francisco and has catered weddings, parties, and cultural- and community-based events to Italians (and non Italians) for generations. Each year, the SFIAC hosts one of America’s oldest foot races (the Statuto Race), a Columbus Day celebration, an Italian Festival, a bocce tournament and picnic, regional dinners and spectacular member-only events.

Coming Events

The SFIAC Annual Bocce Tournament and Family Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Marin Bocce Federation located at Albert Park (550 B Street) in San Rafael. The bocce action begins at 9:30 am and teams consisting of four to six players can sign up by downloading a registration form from the Club website at www.sfiac.org or picking up a registration form at the Club. Players should arrive at 9 am. Registration for SFIAC sponsored teams will be accepted beginning July 1 and for unaffiliated teams on August 1. Cost for players is $50, which includes the BBQ at noon. Cost for the BBQ only is $25 per person, $15 for children 7-12 years and free for those under six years of age. The fee includes the BBQ lunch, water, soda and beer. Wine is allowed, but not provided.

The SFIAC Annual Frank Clima Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Crystal Springs Golf Course located at 6650 Golf Course Drive in Burlingame. Registration begins at 11 am with a noon Shotgun Start with a Scramble Format. Get a foursome together or play solo. Both male and female players are welcome. Cost is $150 per player and includes green fees, a golf cart, tee prizes, a box lunch, raffle and hosted wine with dinner at the end of play. If you’re not a golfer, you can still attend the dinner and awards ceremony for $45 per person. The raffle benefits the SFIAC Foundation and our Club’s annual Children’s Christmas Party.

Columbus Day Lunch
Tickets for lunch are on sale to member’s only for purchasing up to 6 seats. Due to the demand we have faced in recent years, the Columbus Day Committee has decided to handle it more or less as we do for stag dinners allowing more members to participate on this day. You may buy one, two but not more than 6 from July 1 to July 31. On August 1, sale of complete tables will be on a first come/first serve basis. We realize that not everyone will be happy but we believe that this method allows a fair opportunity to more members as opposed to the few we have been able to accommodate in the past. Lunch will be $55 per person and it begins promptly at 12:30p. Each table will have 3 bottles of wine to share. The increase in per person cost from last year is to allow the rental of a full canopy to cover the lunch guests. For those having dined in previous years, you know how hot and uncomfortable it gets on Columbus Day. This solution should make it much more comfortable for everyone. (Watch it rain this year!)

Columbus Day Dinner
Tickets for dinner cost $60 and are already on sale. The main course will be Roast Beef. Come join the Queen and her Court along with many special guests to cap off the day. Cocktails are served at 5:00p and dinner at 6:00p. The dinner has sold out the last two years so don’t wait to purchase your tickets. If you have not made the dinner before, do yourself a favor and get your seat today.

General Meeting $$ Pool. We are going to draw a members name and if he is present he will receive the total in the pool. If not present $25 will be added to the next meeting and so on until someone is present to win. The requirement is that you must be present to win. Don’t forget to join us at 6:30pm for a small buffet dinner before each General Meeting.

Every Friday Night is “Buffet Night”. Food is served at 6:30p to members and guests. The only distractions are the cheers and groans over the game of the week being shown on the many screens.

Note: Printed tickets are not mailed. Your printed tickets are available in the lobby on the day of the event or members bar before the event day.

These and other events are listed on the club's events' calendar at www.sfiac.org.
